Each spring,
MEEC hosts an ecologically themed show to help people connect with the world’s
beauty, deepen our understanding of ecosystems and inspire actions for
sustainability. Artists (visual artists, writers and musicians) and educators
of all ages and walks of life participate and hundreds annually view the show
through a visit to the gallery or participating in our associated indoor and
outdoor programs.
The year's show explores the relationships between peace and the environment.
Examples include the restorative power of nature, the impact of human greed and
violence on our natural environment, our spiritual connection to the Earth and
the effects of uneven access to Earth's resources.
Stage, Song and Service at the University of
Dayton will present Namaste: Greeting the planet within us
at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 31 at the Bergamo Center Chapel. Developed for
Peaceful Earth Works, this transformative performance focuses on the
proportional relationship between the condition of each human being and the
condition of the global environment. Namaste uses an inspiring variety of
songs, dance, poetry, scenes, artwork and comedy to acknowledge and celebrate
our interconnectedness. Stage, Song and Service is a collaborative service
learning experience between members of the UD and Dayton communities founded by
Lee Hoffman. Download a poster here.
On Thursday, April 10 from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m., MEEC volunteer Kathryn Eckerly
will host an evening of reflection on the gallery theme. Take
Another Look will also be an opportunity to discuss living more
peacefully and sustainably. RSVP by Monday April 7.
